This spring Kris Menace releases his long awaited second album, called "Electric Horizon", on compuphonic, following up his 2009 released 3CD album "Idiosyncrasies", that had been sold out within a few weeks only after its release.

"Electric Horizon" is proof that Kris Menace is one of the true inventors of nu-disco sound, updating the "Discopolis" feeling, taking it to a whole new level, presented by this wonderful album, which offers melancholy, melody and a lot of true and unconditional love. Kris is known for his unique touch production wise and also for choosing most of the times to leave the voices behind and focuses on the instrumental side of the songs. Therefore, "Electric Horizon" is fully instrumental. Magical, melodic, danceable yet suitable for easy listening, "Electric Horizon" is full of deep emotions which let you drown into the deepest soundscapes.

The first single of the album is called "Falling Star" and will be released prior to the album. Together with a wonderful space odyssey live visual VJ video by the legendary London based "Hexstatic" (Ninja Tunes), the track opens your mind and heart, taking you far away into another world. Since 2005, Kris Menace has been known for his well respected releases and collaborations with Fred Falke, Felix Da Housecat, Rex the Dog, Aeroplane, DJ Pierre, Alan Braxe and many more. As a Remixer he worked for the likes of Depeche Mode, Robbie Williams, Lcd Soundsystem, Kylie Minogue, Booka Shade and many others. Also, he has worked on several side projects like "Black Van" (DFA / Permanent Vacation) or "Stars on 33" (Eskimo), that became industry highlights and been supported by the world biggest DJ's all around the world.

PETAR DUNDOV / IDEAS FROM THE POND

Producer Petar Dundov runs his own 'Neumatik' studio in Zagreb where he works as a sound engineer as well as producing his own take on techno, house and electronica. The new album 'Ideas From The Pond' is his most accomplished work to date and features beautifully layered techno, hypnotic rhythms and shimmering melodies that make this a real landmark release for the Croatian DJ/producer.

To Dundov, "techno is music that precedes movement. It is dance music, solid enough to carry emotions through the dance floor and abstract enough to be a template forever". And indeed his breathtaking productions embody this ethos, serving the inherent function of making your body pulse spontaneously while also challenging your brain with its complex melodies and slow-burning, hypnotic progressions.

Although maybe the word "techno" doesn't give enough detail about his style, it's probably the nearest ballpark to whose principles his music adheres - and he is keen to expand the horizons of what people know and expect of the genre. But it's that sense of his tracks being alive, forever evolving and expanding and increasing in intensity, which gives his music its unique sound and has seen his work crossover into a myriad of different areas of the global electronic music scene. The last three years have seen his mind-bending album "Escapements" take the scene by storm with its intricate, ever-changing melodies.

Taking the listener from the club to a tripped out dreamscape, his new album 'Ideas From The Pond' brings musicality back to techno and shows that minimal doesn't need to be one-dimensional. Driving, thrilling and emotionally charged 'Ideas From The Pond' is set to cross the techno/house/trance divide and become one of the essential electronic albums of 2012.

Berlin based Brit Ed Davenport has announced his debut LP, Counterchange, will be released on NRK in March 2012.

Having slowly but assuredly emerged through the mire of house producers in the last 5 or so years, Ed Davenport now cuts it with the best of them. A steady stream of singles, EPs and remixes have come on labels like liebe*detail, Falkplatz and Pooled Music in recent times, but arguably it's the Salisbury born man's work for Bristol's NRK which has found him really finding his feet. The More Red Lights and New Yorkshire EPs from 2011 are testament to that, both of which explored a well-designed, thick and heavy house and techno sound.

It's a similar sound explored throughout Counterchange, too, but with plenty of concessions to filmic home listening rather than straight up dancefloor fodder. Notably, breakbeats feature heavily up the spine of the album, as does subtle vocal sampling and plenty of atmospheric tension.

Says Ed: " 'Counterchange' is a further development of my vision of electronic music, that sits somewhere between the club and home listening. The title relates to the relationship and contrast between any two opposites. That could simply be harmony, light and shade, viewpoints or opinions. From my background studying as a graphic designer, the use of counterchange in a visual sense can be very effective."

Much of Canitrot's career has been based around his native Paris, and while this is undoubtedly the place where he is best known - thanks in no small part to his infamous 'So, Happy In Paris?' parties, which have attracted the cream of the city's clubbing elite for the past decade - in the last few years, Michael's star has begun to shine increasingly brightly on the global stage.

In the past, Michael has been asked perform live at exclusive events hosted by brands such as Dior, Cartier, Versace, D&G and Prada, crafting custom sets with which to entertain the VIPs in attendance. This was capped off in 2010 when Michael was asked to DJ at arguably the most glamorous events on the world stage; the International Film Festival at Cannes. 4AD are set to release the defining new album from Grimes, Visions, to the World outside Canada. Joining forces with Montreal’s Arbutus Records (a label and
collective Grimes is a part of), Visions will be on the shelves on March 12th.

Grimes is the inventive work of Vancouver born Claire Boucher, a project of hers that has gained notoriety since its inception back in early-2010. Moving to Montreal in 2006, she developed Grimes among the city’s burgeoning DIY scene – a scene where both punk ethos and pop music collide, resulting in a distinct sense of community, religiosity and psychedelic revelry – as a prominent figure in the scene that surrounded the Lab Synthèse (a 4600sq ft re-appropriated textile factory).

There is a powerful harmony at play, both musical and visual, with her second self embodying the arts of 2D, performance, dance, video and sound, weaving them all together to strong rhythmic effect. A prolific force, Visions will be her fourth release in less than two years and she has also performed countless shows in this time. Her debut album, Geidi Primes, was initially released in 2010 on a limited cassette run of just thirty and as a free download. This was followed by Halfaxa (2010) – arguably one of the first witchhouse or lo-fi R&B releases – and by the Darkbloom EP (2011) where she began to take her first steps as a producer, bringing together the experimentation behind her early work with a cutting edge pop aesthetic.

With each album tackling a different set of influences and styles, her latest set incorporates influences as wide as Enya, TLC and Aphex Twin, whilst also
drawing from genres like New Jack Swing, IDM, New Age, K-pop, Industrial
and glitch. This approach has marked out Grimes as a curator of culture,
and allowed the project to remain flexible and to evolve.

Claire describes her work as, “the only means through which I can be fully expressive. It is both an ethereal escape from, and a violent embrace of my experience. The creative process is a quest for the ultimate sensual, mystical and cathartic experience and the vehicle for my psychic purging. Visions was conceived in a period of self-imposed cloistering during which time I did not see daylight.”

The list of collaborators on the album is also impressive, with appearances from nu-jazz singer George Levin, bossa nova phenomenon Bebel Gilberto and original disco diva Evelyn 'Champagne' King.

He has released music on OM, Astralwerks and his own Salted Music and remixed artists including Macy Gray, Lionel Richie and Britney Spears.

Miguel's 2007 album 'Those Things' won best dance album at the independent music awards and his recent long player was cited by Beatport as one of the best deep house offerings of 2011 and he was subsequently nominated as Beatport's Best Deep House Producer.

Ceremony are a punk band from Rohnert Park, California, just outside of San Francisco. Their three albums on the Deathwish and Bridge 9 labels are widely seen as the most compelling, unusual and progressive hardcore of the last five years.
For their Matador debut Zoo, produced by John Goodmanson (Blood Brothers, Sleater-Kinney, Girls, Weezer), the band have refined their jagged sound while continuing to pursue themes of exurban alienation and confinement.
Zoo explores punk and post-punk traditions: the rhythm section remains as tense and propulsive as ever, while guitarist Anthony Anzaldo moves with ease from ringing power chords to stealthy leads reminiscent of Gang of Four and The Cramps. Ross Farrar’s future primitive vocals sometimes recall Pink Flagor Metal Box, ranging from a melodic howl to a muttered incantation. The result is gripping and indelible.

The share of love for music lasts longer than many marriages. 20 years is the period of Chris Gilcher, Ingmar Hänsch and Marcell Meyer unified as a team called Levitation. Affected by a distinctive style, they've been shaping a sound that has inspired a whole generation. Chillout is the musical genre, they had a big impact on - most of all with their contributions for the ground-breaking compilation-series Café Del Mar, above all "More Than Ever People" feat. Cathy Battistessa. For one part,"Essential Levitation" is a collection of 20 tracks on 2 CDs, which presents the best achievements of the team in 20 years. For the other part, it is new material which Levitation has produced for this release over the past three years. To escape the stereotype of lounge music as just another muzak, Levitation has always strived for high standards in songwriting and composition. The songs will certainly stand the test of time, featuring first-class vocalists such as Mocci Ryen (who worked with Patti Labelle among others). She gives a stunning performance on the advance single "How Wonderful" and the trippy "Circle Of Life" by adding a lascivious air to the tunes. Another prime example of setting completative lyrics in a romantic context is Caro Barth’s vocal input. In combination with a spanish guitar, her crystal-clear timbre is melting the ice on "These Thoughts". By adding various singers to the tracks, Levitation accentuate the different colours of a warm prevailing mood. The music is characterised by an analogue sound which leaves the sterile productions of comparable approaches to the genre miles behind. The soundtrack is generally downtempo. In order to a create a pleasant atmosphere, solid grooves lay the fundament for airy keyboardlayers, jazzy Rhodes-chords, or a guitar-picking. An exclusion to the norm is the instrumental "Dabe Dabe", an uptempo instrumental with four-to-the-floor rhythm that points in the direction of Underworld. This variation of style fits perfectly to the chilled vibes of the album. As a surprise, the collection comprises also different unreleased mixes of classic material, such as "More Than Ever People". The third CD is a bonus that features a mix of DJ Sweep, who is spinning the single tracks to become a liquid flow. "Essential Levitation - 20 Years Of Ibiza Chillout" is a sample of the past and at the same time a look to the future. It certainly sets sails for a project that has been pausing for some years and is now taking off to new shores ahead.

FOO FIGHTERS / A HARD DAY'S NIGHT

Foo Fighters is an American alternative rock band originally formed in 1994 by drummer Dave Grohl as a one-man project following the dissolution of his previous band Nirvana. The band got its name from the UFOs and various aerial phenomena that were reported by Allied aircraft pilots in World War II, which were known collectively as foo fighters.

Prior to the release of the Foo Fighters'1995 debut album Foo Fighters, which featured Grohl as the only official member, Grohl recruited bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith, both formerly of Sunny Day Real Estate, as well as fellow Nirvana touring bandmate Pat Smear as guitarist to complete the lineup. Goldsmith quit during the recording of the group's second album, The Colour and the Shape in 1997 when most of the drum parts were re-recorded by Grohl himself. Smear's departure followed soon afterward. They were replaced by Taylor Hawkins and Franz Stahl, respectively, although Stahl was fired before the recording of the group's third album, There Is Nothing Left to Lose. The band briefly continued as a trio until Chris Shiflett joined as the band's lead guitarist after the completion of this album. The band released its fourth album, One by One, in 2002. The group followed that release with the two-disc In Your Honor (2005), which was split between acoustic songs and heavier material. Foo Fighters released its sixth album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, in 2007 and in 2010, it was confirmed that Smear had officially rejoined the band after touring with the Foo Fighters as an unofficial member between 2006 and 2009. Over the course of the band's career, three of its albums have won Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album, and all seven albums have been nominated. The band's seventh studio album, Wasting Light, was released in 2011. Here’s the full 100 minute performance by the Foos at New York Cities most iconic stage – Ed Sullivan Theatre. Kudos to the Foo Fighters for recognizing the Rock'n'Roll landmark by using the Beatles font on Taylor's kick drum and wearing the classic Beatle suits from their historic Ed Sullivan Show appearance in 1964. Therefore half of the show was filmed in black and white in honor of The Fab F.

With the past two editions both hitting #1 in the iTunes Dance Albums Chart, "Anjunadeep 04" mixed by Jaytech and James Grant arrives with the label in ruder health than ever before - as evidenced by a recent DJ Mag nomination for Best British Record Label.

The last 12 months has seen the Above & Beyond imprint unveil one of house music's hottest new talents in Dusky, whose album "Stick By This" has been acclaimed by everyone from DJ Magazine (“an intoxicating album full of live and flashes of brilliance") to Pete Tong - with Tong naming it as one of his favourite albums of the year - while other Anjunadeep artists such as Matt Lange and Andrew Bayer on the label have blossomed. The former being described by Zane Lowe as "progressive club at its finest" and the latter's "It's Artificial" LP winning plaudits from DJ Mag, Zane Lowe again and even Nick Grimshaw.

Representing the deeper, more house-influenced end of Anjunadeep's increasingly wide spectrum, label A&R James Grant effortlessly combines warm Maceo Plex'esque electronics, classic deep house vibes (Dusky "Lost Highway"), low-bass grooves (Tom Middleton's Liquatech Mix of Paronator "No Gravity") and the melodic house sound in which Anjunadeep has made its name. Grant also contributes three remixes to the mix in collaboration with Andrew Bayer and acknowledges the key role played by Bayer in achieving the desired sound for CD1: "We had an idea of where the label's sound should be heading this year and Andrew really helped me realise that in this mix," says Grant.

Taking time out from finishing his highly anticipated second artist album, Australian Anjunadeep star Jaytech picks up the baton and pursues the more upbeat side of the label's sound. A huge name on the club-house scene, pioneer of the French Touch, Bob Sinclar's career really took off in the 1990s. From a soul and hip-hop background, he has never limited himself to just house and techno, making him one the most eclectic artists in his profession. Edith Piaf (December 19, 1915–October 11, 1963) was one of France's most beloved singers, and became a national icon. Her singing reflected her tragic life, with her specialty being the poignant ballad performed in a heartbreaking voice. Among her famous songs are "La vie en rose" (1946), "Hymne à l'amour" (1949), "Milord" (1959), "Non, je ne regrette rien" (1960). A filmed biography on her life, entitled La Vie En Rose, was released in the US in the summer of 2007.

Early life
Piaf—a Parisian colloquialism for "sparrow" - originated as a nickname she would receive twenty years later. Her mother was a part-Italian native and she was working as a café singer ; Edith's father, was a street acrobat with a past in the theatre.

Singing career
In 1935, Édith was discovered by a Paris nightclub owner . He persuaded her to sing despite her extreme nervousness, and height of only 4 feet 8 inches (1.47 m). In 1940, Jean Cocteau wrote the successful play Le Bel Indifférent, intended for Édith as the star. She began to make friends with famous people, such as the actor Maurice Chevalier and the poet Jacques Borgeat. She wrote the lyrics of many of her songs and collaborated with composers on the tunes. In 1944, Édith Piaf discovered Yves Montand in Paris, made him part of her act, became his mentor and lover. After the war, she toured Europe, the United States, and South America, becoming an internationally known figure. Her popularity in the United States was such that she appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show eight times and at Carnegie Hall twice (1956 and 1957). Her signature song "La vie en rose" (which was voted a Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 1998) was written in 1945.

In 1951 she was involved in a car accident, and thereafter had difficulty breaking a serious morphine addiction.

The famed Paris Olympia concert hall is where Piaf achieved lasting fame, giving several series of concerts at the hall between January 1955 and October 1962.

TINDERSTICKS / THE SOMETHING RAIN

Tindersticks recent history is a story of gradually rebuilding following a period, around 2003, of breaking it all down. It was a painful time, but it is only now that they feel those hard decisions were the right ones . Their music has grown into a different shape that could never have been found by holding on to the past. Since reforming they have been ever progressive, never looking back. This was felt most accutely on their recent soundtrack work for Claire Denis and the accompanying ambitious cinematic live shows, and culminating in the making of "The Something Rain".

They have gradually grown into a tight five piece band, utilising the riches of a great extended family of musicians.

There are the usual collaborators here - Terry Edwards (saxophone) and Andy Nice (cello, soprano sax) - and on "The Something Rain" they are also joined by: Thomas Bloch (crystal bachet), Gina Foster (vocals) Julian Siegel (bass clarinet, tenor saxophone) and Will Wilde (chromatic harmonica).

Through this period of change, tindersticks enjoyed the support of Beggars Banquet/4AD. In their recent parting with the label, they left behind what had become a comfortable space for making music. In its place within the studio there was, in Staples' words,"a new creative edginess around, and a determination."

"The Something Rain" was recorded in bursts over approximately a year, from May 2010 to August 2011 and mixed in September-October 2011. It was a time of experimentation, of searching and honing down a shape and sound. Of the twenty or so ideas they set out with, nine songs became the final album.

February 2012 will see the release of the brand new album from Michael Hadreas, aka Perfume Genius, “Put Your Back N 2 It”. His debut LP “Learning”, released in 2010, established Seattle native Hadreas firmly as one of the most singular new voices in music, winning plaudits across the pond, including Guardian, Dazed and Confused and Mojo in the UK, and Pitchfork, Spin Magazine, Interview and more in the US.

Where “Learning” was stark and confessional however, “Put Your Back N 2 It” is lush and universal, and sees an expansion of both his thematic and sonic palette, playing as a broad meditation on intimacy, power, family, secrecy and hope, not just through his impressionistic lyrics, but through the music itself as well. FERRY CORSTEN / WKND

"Ferry demolishes all competition with a labour of love that has definitely been worth the wait," our reviewer wrote of Ferry Corsten's last album, Twice In A Blue Moon. "Trance is in safe hands." It's now been almost four years since that high benchmark, and on February 24 2012, Corsten will deliver his fourth studio album WKND through the Ultra Music label.

The Dutch veteran has been teasing out details of the LP for a while now, but now he's made it official with cover art and the confirmed tracklist. Included on the disc is Feel It, his peaktime rework of house classic Can You Feel It, the now-familiar Brute alongside Armin van Buuren, and plenty of guest vocals from the likes of Jes, Betsie Larkin and Ben Hague. According to the press release, there's a handful of tracks in the "pop radio-friendly" mould, which might upset the fans who got all worked up about lead single Check It Out.

"It definitely has very big, anthemic melodies as always," Corsten told Data Transmission last year. "What may change is the track tempo though; nowadays this is definitely lower and not 140-BPM any more. This album is more in-tune with the times and the different variances. So, in short - it's at a lower BPM but with the big, lush melodies!"

Russell Tyrone Jones (November 15, 1968 - November 13, 2004) was an American rapper and occasional producer, who went by the stage name Ol' Dirty Bastard or simply ODB. He was one of the founding members of the Wu-Tang Clan, a Hip-Hop group from Staten Island, New York that first rose to mainstream prominence with their 1993 debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).
After establishing the Wu-Tang Clan, Ol' Dirty Bastard went on to pursue a successful solo career. However, his professional success was hampered by erratic personal behavior and frequent legal troubles, including incarceration. He died in late 2004 of a drug overdose, two days before his 36th birthday. Prior to his death, ODB managed to record his third solo album, which has been repeatedly re-shelved.

Jones was often noted for his trademark microphone techniques and his "outrageously profane, free-associative rhymes delivered in a distinctive half-rapped, half-sung style". His stage name was derived from a childhood alias given by RZA, the relevance of which was articulated by Method Man's assertion that there was "no father to his style"
